Meet Pumpkin, our Therapy Dog
Pumpkin the Wheelie Westie Warrior

Pumpkin is the official therapy dog for The Willows School and a proud ambassador for Pumpkin & Friends Charity (registered charity number 1199484). Pumpkin was adopted as a puppy after a traumatic start to life and was later left paralysed, requiring the use of a wheelchair. Rather than letting her disability define her, Pumpkin has gone on to become a powerful symbol of resilience, inclusion and kindness.

Through her regular visits, Pumpkin helps children learn that disability is not something to fear, but something to understand and accept. She encourages conversations around difference, empathy and inclusion, showing pupils that everyone – human or animal – deserves respect, support and equal opportunities. Pumpkin’s calm, gentle nature helps children build confidence, regulate emotions and feel safe, while her wheelchair opens up important discussions about mobility aids and accessibility in a positive, engaging way.

Pumpkin & Friends Charity supports animals with disabilities across the UK by providing mobility equipment, physiotherapy support and emotional guidance for families. The charity also works within schools and communities to promote disability awareness, inclusion and compassion through real-life role models like Pumpkin.
